Car Shopping

11 Nov

One of my least favorite things to do is shop for a car. But we’ve decided to sell our cars and purchase another car more suitable to driving in Tel Aviv. We decided we need a small car for navigating the narrow, busy roads and fitting into parking spaces over there. We learned that lesson while living in Tokyo and the UK. Brad’s already sold his car and we’ve got one nibble on mine. Brad had done a lot of research online before we headed out today, his day off (Veteran’s Day), to Car Max in Laurel and Ellicott City. We looked at small hatchbacks (Honda Fit, Mazda3, Subaru Impreza) as well as small SUVs (Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Subaru Forester). Today was just a browsing day, no test drives. And we are only looking at used cars that have low mileage. Brad’s already checked out which cars are popular in Israel with a view to being able to get them serviced over there. I sat in a lot of cars and liked the Mazda3 and Rav4 the best. We’re leaning towards a small SUV as it puts the rider up higher for a better view of the road. Plus, it will be good for driving in the snow when we return to the States. Didn’t seen any Foresters at the two Car Max outlets we went to today, so over the weekend we’ll probably try to take a look at them and maybe start doing some test drives.
